A Special Tree in Morris Plains

Did you know that a grand old oak tree located on the track side of the Grannis and Mayfair in Morris Plains is named after All Seasons Garden Club member, Pearl Law?

Pearl has been an active member of the Morris Plains Community for over 50 years. She has and continues to participate in numerous community activities and committees, even at 93 years old. One of those activities was the Arbor Commission for the borough. According to those who work with her, Pearl decided to adopt this tree, making sure it was fertilized and pruned, and cared for every year.  At some point, members started to call the oak “The Pearl Law Tree.” It was not until recent that I discovered this – and not from speaking with Pearl - but rather attending the 2021 Arbor Day celebration in town.

As current President of The All Seasons Garden club, I thought this needed a formal acknowledgement of one of Pearl’s influences in her community. The garden knows of her constant enthusiasm and work for the club, but her activism and eagerness to volunteer her time and energy are well known to her church, the fire department and numerous other Morris Plains committees and activities. ASGC would like to say a big thank you to Pearl, for her constant love for this borough.
